A grade of “C” or better and a 2.75 overall GPA (WT and transfer) is required.

A. Major-Specific University Core Requirements


**IMPORTANT: The following courses are required for their specific Core areas instead of the courses listed above in the general University Core Curriculum.**

A grade of “C” or better and a 2.75 GPA (Major-Specific University Core Requirements and Teaching Field sections combined) is required.

Core 90 - Component Area Option (3 of 6 hours)


Students are encouraged to take one of the following courses:

Total hours required to complete degree: 120 hours


Depending on transfer credits and other substitutions/waivers, student may need to take additional electives as needed to total a minimum of 120 hours or the minimum total hours required for this degree, of which at least 36 must be advanced (3000/4000 level) and earned at WTAMU.

**Texas Transfer Framework designated hours**


Designated hours from the Texas Transfer Framework will be applied towards the following requirements for the Bachelor of Science Education, Core Subjects (Grades 4-8):

  • Mathematics - Core 20
    • MATH 1314 - College Algebra 3
  • Component Area Option - Core 90
    • EDUC 1301 - Introduction to the Teaching Profession will be applied to:

    • BIOL 1408 / 1308 + 1108 - Biology for Non-Science Majors will be applied to:
      NSCI 2372 - Integrated Science: Biology 3
       
    • GEOL 1401 / 1301 + 1101 - Earth Science for Non-Science Majors will be applied to:
      NSCI 2371 - Integrated Science: Earth Science 3
       
    • MATH 1350 - Mathematics for Teachers I 3
    • MATH 1351 - Mathematics for Teachers II 3
