A grade of “C” or better and a 2.75 overall GPA (WT and transfer) is required.

A grade of “C” or better and a 2.75 GPA (Major-Specific University Core Requirements and Teaching Field sections combined) is required.

A grade of “C” or better and a 2.75 GPA (Major-Specific University Core Requirements and Teaching Field sections combined) is required.

B.A./B.S. Requirements (6 hours)


Complete the requirements for your specific degree.

B.A. Degree

In addition to the core curriculum, a minimum of 6 hours as follows:

  • At least six hours of foreign language.

B.S. Degree

In addition to the core curriculum, a minimum of 6 hours as follows:

  • At least six hours chosen from biology, chemistry, environmental science, geology, geosciences, mathematics, physics, and natural sciences.

Total hours required to complete degree: 120 hours


Depending on transfer credits and other substitutions/waivers, student may need to take additional electives as needed to total a minimum of 120 hours or the minimum total hours required for this degree, of which at least 36 must be advanced (3000/4000 level) and earned at WTAMU.

Additional Information


Credit for HIST 2301  with a grade of “C” or better is required for certification.

Portfolio: All students majoring in social sciences must complete a portfolio consisting of essays and research papers written for the various disciplines of the program as well as a reflective essay. The portfolio of work is due to the Social Sciences program director before the completion of the final semester of study. A student must submit a portfolio to be cleared to graduate.
