Major in Management
(Major Code: 311)
The B.B.A. degree in Management has three distinct tracks: traditional management, management with a specialization in human resource (HR) management, and management with a specialization in entrepreneurship and small business management.
Traditional track: The traditional management degree prepares graduates for a wide range of managerial positions in business, government, and non-profit organizations. It also provides a solid foundation for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in business, law, and a variety of other disciplines. Courses for the management program are designed to enhance students’ knowledge and skills pertaining to managerial communication, leadership, international management, strategic management, and ethical conduct.
Human Resource Management track: The management degree with a specialization in human resource (HR) management prepares graduates who can contribute to the missions of organizations, both operationally and strategically. Human resources professionals are expected to deal with the complexities and challenges of managing today’s workforce. The program’s content provides a comprehensive coverage of the major human resource responsibilities, including recruitment, selection, training and development, compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, employee relations, health and safety, and strategic HR planning.
This track is fully aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) curriculum guidelines (established in 2005). Students completing this SHRM-approved program are eligible to take the SHRM-CP exam (which normally requires three years of experience) during their final year of study. (See Note below for a list of the aligned courses.)
Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management Track: The management degree with a specialization in entrepreneurship and small business management prepares graduates with interests in starting new ventures and/or managing small businesses. This track gives students a foundational understanding of entrepreneurship and small business management in addition to obtaining a range of skills and tools to be successful in this space.
