English Language Arts & Reading (Grades 7-12) Certification (English B.A.)

A grade of “C” or better and a 2.75 overall GPA (WT and transfer) is required.

Core 90 - Component Area Option (6 hours or fewer; may depend on major requirements)

English Major Requirements

Major-Specific University Core Requirements


**IMPORTANT: The following courses are required for their specific Core areas instead of the courses listed above in the general University Core Curriculum.**

English electives at the 3000 level or above (6 hours)

A senior capstone project will be completed during the student’s senior year. In addition to successful completion of ENGL 4389 , requirements include a portfolio and presentation to be evaluated by the capstone assessment committee.

Foreign Language Requirements (6 hours)


Take two courses with a minimum of three hours per course. While not required, students are urged to take both courses in the same language.

Total hours required to complete degree: 126 hours


Depending on transfer credits and other substitutions/waivers, student may need to take additional electives as needed to total a minimum of 126 hours or the minimum total hours required for this degree, of which at least 36 must be advanced (3000/4000 level) and earned at WTAMU.
