University Core Curriculum Requirements (42 hours)

Requirements for Concentration in Composition


MUAP 10XX (two credit hours for each of four semesters) in performance medium


MUAP 30XX (two credit hours for each of two semesters) in performance medium


Composition


Six semester hours of major ensemble. A minimum of three semesters of lower-division, and the remaining semesters must be upper-division.


Other Requirements


  •  A minimum of eight semester of major ensemble are required; enrollment in major ensemble is required in every semester for which the student is enrolled in 9 or more hours.
  • Recital, concert, weekly seminar and departmental meeting attendance.
  • Capstone recital project before graduation: This recital will feature the student’s composition portfolio performed by the composer and/or other soloists or ensembles.
  • Effective non-music hours to meet minimum requirement of 40 hours outside major.

Total hours required to complete degree: 123 hours


Depending on transfer credits and other substitutions/waivers, student may need to take additional electives as needed to total a minimum of 123 hours or the minimum total hours required for this degree, of which at least 36 must be advanced (3000/4000 level) and earned at WTAMU.
