The Certificate in Educational Law and Policy will allow candidates in the Doctor of Educational Leadership program to gain recognition for completing 12 SCHs of education law and policy-related courses. Students in the doctoral program may select these courses as a part of their degree requirements without exceeding the total number of credit hours required for the degree. Students with professional goals in law and/or policy or related fields will benefit from the foundation provided by this certificate.
Completion of the certificate will develop student knowledge and skills related to selected topics in ethics; public education (EC-12) or higher education law including judicial, legislative, and administrative sources of law; faculty rights, restrictions, and liability; student rights and restrictions including special populations; institutional liability; and the relationship between law and policy.
