General Requirements for the Bachelor of Business Administration/Master of Accounting (B.B.A./M.Acc.) Degree Integrated Program


  • Applicants must have completed the following accounting courses prior to admission: ACCT 2301, ACCT 2302, ACCT 3311, ACCT 3331, ACCT 3332, ACCT 3371, ACCT 3375.

Undergraduate Requirements


University Core Curriculum Requirements (42 hours)

Refer to the “University Core Curriculum” section of the Undergraduate Catalog. Students must take the following courses.

From Communication - Code 10 (6 hours)

  • ENGL 1301 - Introduction to Academic Writing and Argumentation 3 or
  • ENGL 1311 - Writing About Ideas 3
    and
  • COMM 1315 Basic Speech Communication or
  • COMM 1318 Interpersonal Communication or
  • COMM 1321 Business and Professional Communication 3
From Mathematics - Code 20 (3 hours)

  • MATH 1324 - Mathematics for Business and Economics I (or equivalent)
From Social and Behavioral Sciences - Code 80

  • ECON 2301 - Principles of Macroeconomics 3
From Component Area Option - Code 90 (3 of 6 hours)

Refer to the University Core Curriculum in the undergraduate catalog for all options. Students are encouraged to take one of the following courses:

  • BUSI 1301 - Business Principles 3
  • BUSI 1304 - Business Communication 3
     
  • CIDM 1301 - Introduction to Information Science or
  • CIDM 1315 - Programming Fundamentals
     
  • ECON 2331 - Economics and Society 3
  • Or other University Core equivalent
Note:

A grade of “C” or better is required in all B.B.A. degree core courses and University Core Curriculum sections 10, 20, 80, and three of six hours in section 90.

Undergraduate Accounting Requirements (21 hours)

  • ACCT 3311 - Federal Tax Accounting I 3
  • ACCT 3331 - Intermediate Accounting I 3
  • ACCT 3332 - Intermediate Accounting II 3
  • ACCT 3371 - Cost Accounting 3
  • ACCT 3375 - Accounting Information Systems 3
  • ACCT 4351 - Auditing 3
  • Three semester hours of advanced accounting, finance, or CIDM elective 3
Undergraduate Electives (12 hours)

Graduate Requirements


For the graduate portion of the program, students must complete 36 semester hours in advanced and graduate courses, including at least 18 semester hours in accounting. At least 18 semester hours must be in 6300-level courses (excluding ACCT 6300 MGT 6300 , MKT 6300 , FIN 6300 , CIDM 6300 , and ECON 6300 ).

Fifteen hours of advanced graduate accounting electives (excluding ACCT 6300)

Other Graduate Business Electives (9 hours)

Nine semester hours of graduate elective courses in accounting (ACCT), economics (ECON), finance (FIN), or computer information and decision management (CIDM). (Excludes ACCT 6300 , ECON 6300 , FIN 6300 , and CIDM 6300 .)

Pass Comprehensive Final Exam


During the last semester of course work for the B.B.A./M.Acc. degree, the student will be required to take a comprehensive written and/or oral exam covering the M.Acc. core courses. The examination will be administered  by a three-member graduate accounting faculty committee. If the student fails the first examination, one semester or the equivalent (16 weeks or two summer sessions) must elapse before the student takes the exam again. Additional course work or directed study will be recommended for the student in the interim.
