Theatre B.S. (phases out August 2024)

The B.S. in Theatre will be phased out by 2024. No new students will be admitted to the program beginning Fall 2019.

Major in Theatre

Theatre Program Requirements


  1. Every theatre major will perform satisfactorily in at least one role or technical crew position (including design, management and production running crews) for one show per semester. Academic eligibility factors into casting and production assignments; therefore, theatre majors should maintain a semester GPA of 2.50 or higher, keep regular attendance in all classes, and make a “C” or better in all course required by the major.
  2. All theatre performance majors will audition for all WTAMU Theatre productions unless excused from audition by the director of the production.
  3. All theatre majors will attend the required jury evaluation at the end of the semester.
  • New theatre majors will have a jury at the end of their first semester in the program.
  • All theatre majors will have a jury at the end of each spring semester.

Electives (as needed to total 120 hours overall)


At least 36 hours of advanced work (3000- or 4000-level courses) for which tuition is paid must be earned at WTAMU.
