A student must complete a minimum of 120 semester credit hours to include at least 39 advanced hours. From Mathematics - Code 20 (3 hours)
Take one of the following:
From Life and Physical Sciences - Code 30 (6 hours)
From Component Area Option - Code 90 (6 hours)
Option I—Professional Chemistry
This option follows course recommendations of the American Chemical Society and prepares students for positions in industry, government and education. It is recommended for students planning to do graduate study in chemistry or seeking employment as chemists in industry. Additional advanced hours to provide a minimum of 36 hours selected from:
Chemistry, physics or mathematics.
Additional hours to meet the minimum University requirement for a degree
Option II—General Chemistry
This option provides a background for students whose career goals are to enter education or chemistry-related fields. Additional advanced hours to provide a minimum of 36 hours selected from: (15-17 hours)
Chemistry, mathematics, biology, computer science, physics, environmental science or geology.
Additional hours to meet the minimum University requirement for a degree
Option III—Biochemistry
This option is for students planning careers using chemistry applied to medical science, including pre-medical students and other pre-professional students. Additional advanced hours to provide a minimum of 36 hours selected from: (9-10 hours)
Chemistry, mathematics, biology, computer science, physics, environmental science or geology.
Additional hours to meet the minimum University requirement for a degree
