Musical Theatre B.A. (phases out August 2024)


No new students will be admitted beginning Fall 2019.

Musical Theatre Program Requirements


  1. Every musical theatre major will perform satisfactorily in at least one role or technical crew position (including design, management and production running crews) for one show per semester. Academic eligibility factors into casting and production assignments; therefore, musical theatre majors should maintain and overall GPA of 2.50 or higher, keep regular attendance in all classes, and make a “C” or better in all courses required by the major.
  2. All musical theatre performance majors will audition for all WTAMU Theatre productions unless excused from audition by the director of the production.
  3. All musical theatre majors will attend the required jury evaluation at the end of the semester.
  • New musical theatre majors will have a jury evaluation at the end of their first semester in the program.
  • All musical theatre majors will have a jury at the end of each spring semester.
  1. Musical theatre majors are required to enroll in six semesters of Theatre Practicum (THRE 1120, 3199).

Major in Musical Theatre


(Major Code: 215)

Administered by the Department of Art,Theatre and Dance, this interdisciplinary performance degree requires development and study in musical theatre and theatre (33 hours), music (14 hours) and dance (8 hours). An audition meeting program standards is required for admission into the WTAMU Musical Theatre Program. Additionally, students approved as musical theatre majors must pass annual juries in musical theatre in order to maintain their status in the program.

Take additional electives as needed to total 120 hours overall. At least 39 hours of advanced work (3000- or 4000-level courses) for which tuition is paid must be earned at WTAMU.
