Gender Studies Certificate

The Certificate in Gender Studies is an undergraduate interdisciplinary studies certificate designed to allow students the opportunity to explore historical constructions of gender as well as contemporary conceptualizations of gender and sexuality within various contexts and across a wide range of fields. Courses in various disciplines also analyze how race, class, and ethnic diversity intersect with gender and sexuality and influence social practices and ideas. Students are required to take GNDR 3301 , GNDR 4397  and 9 hours of gender and sexuality related courses from any discipline, 3 hours of which must be upper level. Courses applied to the certificate must be approved by the Director of Gender Studies, who is overseen by the Department Head of History, and with consent of course instructor; all applied courses also must receive a grade of C or higher.
