Media Communication Core Requirements (28 hours)
Note:
Students are advised to complete the University Core Curriculum requirements during their first two years of classes. B.A. or B.S. Requirements (6-12 hours)
Electives
Take additional electives as needed to total 120 hours overall (of which 39 must be advanced).
Note:
Digital Communication and Media majors may not count more than 43 hours of MCOM courses toward the degree. Electives should be in other subjects.
Graduation Requirements
All majors in a Mass Communication’s major will compile an e-portfolio that demonstrates the student’s competencies in at least six of the following eight categories:
- Leadership
- Mass Media Production
- Media Convergence
- Written Communication
- Cultural Influences
- Theoretical Perspectives
- Professional and Civic Responsibilities
- Media Management
The e-portfolio must be submitted for review early in the semester the student plans to graduate. The student must receive a score of 3 or higher on each section of the portfolio to be certified for graduation.
