Six hours from biology, chemistry, geology, geosciences, mathematics, physics and natural sciences.

Broadcast Journalism majors may not count more than 43 hours of MCOM courses towards the degree.
All students will compile and submit an e-portfolio that demonstrates the student’s competencies in at least six of the following eight categories:
- Leadership
- Mass Media Production
- Media Convergence
- Written Communication
- Cultural Influences
- Theoretical Perspectives
- Professional and Civic Responsibilities
- Media Management
The e-portfolio must be submitted for review early in the semester the student plans to graduate. The student must receive a score of 3 or higher on each section of the portfolio to be certified for graduation.
