Note: Music majors cannot receive core credit for MUSI 1306  or MUSI 1310 .

Required Music Courses for Emphases


Instrumental Emphasis


MUAP 10XX (two credit hours for each of four semesters)

MUAP 30XX (three credit hours for three semesters, two credit hours for one semester))

MUAP 4194 (one credit hour)

Note:

MUSI 1181 , MUSI 1182 , MUSI 2181 , MUSI 2182 , and two 1-hour enrollments in MUAP 3069  is preferred.

Six semester hours of band/orchestra

Music Electives: 7 hours (two hours advanced)

Additional non-music hours as needed to equal 123 overall

Keyboard Emphasis


Applied minor instrument MUAP 10XX (one credit hour for each of four semesters)

Applied minor instrument MUAP 30XX (one credit hour for each of two semesters)

Organ Option

After four semesters of secondary instruction at the 1000 level, students in the degree programs bachelor of music (B.M.) with a performance emphasis in keyboard or piano pedagogy will have the option of registering for two semesters of MUAP 1065 Applied Music - Organ .

Six semester hours major ensemble

Music Electives: 4 hours (three hours advanced)

Additional non-music hours as needed to equal 123 overall

Other Requirements


  • A minimum of eight semesters of major ensemble.
  • Recital, concert, weekly seminar and departmental meeting attendance.
  • Satisfactory senior recital performance before graduation.
  • Four non-MUAP/MUSI/MUEN hours are needed.
