Music majors cannot receive core credit for MUSI 1306 . MUSI 1208 and MUSI 1209 satisfies “Creative Arts” in the core curriculum.

A maximum of 80 hours of music (MUSI), music ensemble (MUEN) and applied music (MUAP) courses can be applied to a bachelor’s degree in music. A minimum of 40 semester hours must be taken outside the school. Performance (Major Code: 202): Instrumental, Keyboard, Piano Pedagogy, or Voice
Required Music Courses for Instrumental Performance Emphasis
MUAP 10XX (two credit hours for each of four semesters)

- Satisfactory senior recital performance before graduation.
- Elective non-music hours to meet minimum requirement of 40 hours outside major.

- A minimum of seven semesters of major ensemble are required; enrollment in major ensemble is required in every semester for which the student is enrolled in 9 or more hours.

- Satisfactory senior recital performance or capstone project before graduation.
- Requirements for piano must be completed before the semester of student teaching.
NOTE:
- Students majoring in music (all-level certification) are encouraged to attend at least one summer school session to allow greater freedom during regular semesters to participate in unrequired but valuable courses, such as small ensembles.

- Capstone project before graduation: students in Option One may do a senior recital or senior portfolio project; students in Option Two will produce an audio and/or video project.
