The Department of Sports and Exercise Sciences graduate program offers a master of science degree with specific tracks in exercise science and sport management. The thesis and non-thesis option is available in each track. These programs provide students academic preparation for goals ranging from doctoral studies to career employment. Areas of focus available include content such as physiological testing and prescription, corporate fitness and wellness, sport performance analysis, and administration and management in varied sport settings. Each track includes a required department four-course core and track-specific required course work.
Students in the non-thesis program receive background preparation designed to meet the needs of persons interested in professions related to exercise science and are tailored to meet specific needs and interests of the individual graduate student.
All students are required to take a four-course core curriculum. Students then design a curriculum with their adviser to meet individual interests and needs.
Graduate Advising Requirement
Students should consult the graduate coordinator for adviser assignment. No later than the end of the first semester of graduate study, students must identify a graduate faculty member who agrees to serve as their graduate adviser. This adviser must be in the student’s area of specialization.
