Departmental emphasis on quality instruction assures that students are exposed to the most up-to-date material and instructional techniques. The department also offers secondary teacher certification in economics. Consult the “Department of Education ” section of this catalog for specific requirements.
The study of accounting and finance leads exclusively to business-oriented degrees. In economics, students may pursue Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Business Administration degrees.
The department offers a variety of scholarships at the undergraduate level, and teaching and graduate assistantships at the post-graduate level. Students are encouraged to apply for these awards.
Internship Program
The College of Business offers internship opportunities through the WTAMU Career Services’ Experiential Education Program. Students in approved internships have an opportunity to do actual work in their chosen field and receive 3 hours course credit and, in most cases, a salary for an internship position. The program provides students opportunities to earn a portion of their college expenses while gaining work experience which enhances academic studies. To receive course credit, students complete an academic component in addition to the work of their internship, and at the end of the semester, receive a letter grade.
