The American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), in order to certify and provide professional speech and hearing services, requires a master’s degree in communication disorders. WTAMU’s Communication Disorders Program is nationally accredited through ASHA.

University Core Curriculum Requirements


For the “University Core Curriculum” requirements for natural sciences (Code 30) students are required to take one biology and one of either chemistry, physics, or geology. Fore the remainder of the core curriculum, refer to the “University Core Curriculum ” section of this catalog and to the required related courses listed below.

NOTES: Students may opt to use summers or intersessions to fulfill core curriculum requirements. Fifty-eight hours of communiction disorders courses count toward a degree. Students must complete a minimum of 36 hours of upper-division (3000–4000 level) course work of which 30 must be in residence at WTAMU.
