Theatre B.A.

Theatre Program Requirements


  • Through required semester enrollment in the Theatre Production course (THRE PROD ), all theatre majors will perform satisfactorily in at least one role or technical crew position (including design, management and production running crews) for one show per semester. Academic eligibility factors into casting and production assignments; therefore, theatre majors should maintain a semester GPA of 2.50 or higher, keep regular attendance in all classes, and make a “C” or better in all courses required by the major.
  • All theatre majors will audition for all WTAMU Theatre productions unless excused from audition by the program coordinator.
  • All theatre majors will participate in a required jury evaluation as follows:
    • New theatre majors will jury at the end of their first semester in the program.
    • All theatre majors will jury at the end of each spring semester.

Theatre Major Requirements


Major-Specific University Core Requirements


This program requires no specific courses from the University Core Curriculum.

Theatre Electives (21 hours)


  • 18 hours advanced (3000 and 4000 level) THRE electives
  • 3 hours any-level THRE electives

Non-Theatre Electives (18 hours)


  • 12 hours advanced (3000 and 4000 level) electives
  • 6 hours any-level electives

Bachelor of Arts Requirements (6 hours)


In addition to the core curriculum, a minimum of 6 hours as follows:

  • At least six hours of foreign language.

Total hours required to complete degree: 120 hours


Depending on transfer credits and other substitutions/waivers, student may need to take additional electives as needed to total a minimum of 120 hours or the minimum total hours required for this degree, of which at least 36 must be advanced (3000/4000 level) and earned at WTAMU.
