(Specialization Code: CRNA)

WTAMU offers a Pre-CRNA program for students interested in pursuing a career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. A CRNA is a registered nurse (RN), with advanced education, who is able to provide anesthesia services in a variety of care settings. Students will need to follow the pre-nursing career path and compete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and successfully pass the National NCLEX exam to become a Registered Nurse. Upon completing an accredited MSN or DNP nursing education program with a CRNA specialization and passing a national certification exam, the Texas Board of Nursing will grant qualified applicants APRN licensure as a CRNA. Pre-professional requirements vary between CRNA programs. Students considering this major should consult with the pre-nursing advisers for information regarding various schools and their particular requirements.

The WTAMU admissions requirements and advising recommendations for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (BSN) and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) can be found on the Department of Nursing’s website (https://www.wtamu.edu/academics/college-nursing-health-sciences/department-nursing/index.html) or on the Pre-Professional Specializations website (https://www.wtamu.edu/academics/advising/pre-professional-specializations/index.html).
