General Business B.B.A. (includes specializations in Entrepreneurship/Small Business, Health Care Management, and International Business)


Major in General Business


(Major Code: 302)

The general business major allows students to customize their major based on their career interest. Students select 27 hours from any of the College of Business disciplines. The result is a generalist degree that prepares students for either their own entrepreneurial pursuits or the corporate world.

University Core Curriculum Requirements


Refer to the “University Core Curriculum ” section of this catalog. Students must take the following courses.

From Mathematics - Code 20 (3 hours)


From Social and Behavioral Sciences - Code 80 (3 hours)

Business core. (See the B.B.A. core, in the “Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Degree Core Requirements ” section of the catalog.)

Major Area


For this major, students need 27 hours with at least 21 hours of upper level (3000-4000) courses. Maximum of 12 hours in a subject area.

  • Marketing (MKT)

At least 21 hours must be upper-level with a maximum of 12 hours in each discipline.

Students earning a General Business degree are allowed to earn only one minor from the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business.

Additional electives to total 120 hours


General Business with a Specialization in Health Care Management


Students may use the general business major to create a specialization in health care management.

General Business with a Specialization in Entrepreneurship/Small Business


Students may use the general business major to create a specialization in entrepreneurship and small business management.

General Business with a Specialization in International Business


Students may use the general business major to create a specialization in international business. This specialization has a total of 122 credit hours.

Nine hours of upper-level courses:


from one area of study (ACCT, BUSI, CIDM, ECON, FIN, MGT, or MKT).

Eight hours in a foreign language.
