Recital Option
Applied music (minimum of two semesters, eight semester hours maximum), MUSI 6203 , graduate-level music courses to equal 30 semester hours. Thesis Option (Prose Thesis, or Composition)
MUSI 6301 and MUSI 6302 , applied music optional (eight semester hours maximum), graduate-level music courses to equal 30 semester hours. Non-Thesis Option
Applied music optional (eight semester hours maximum), graduate-level music courses to equal 36 semester hours. Other Requirements
Each semester the music major is enrolled in nine semester hours or more (four semester hours or more in a summer session), the student must enroll in a major ensemble. Band (MUEN XX26 or XX27) is the major ensemble for woodwinds, brass and percussion; choir (MUEN XX41 or XX42) for voice; orchestra (MUEN XX29) for strings; choir for keyboard majors, but keyboard students may choose band or orchestra, respectively, if they can play a woodwind, brass, percussion or string instrument. Candidates will be required to pass an oral examination over the thesis or the literature in their recital, depending on the option selected, and the major field of study. |
