Major in Musical Theatre
(Major Code: 215)
Administered by the Department of Art, Theatre and Dance, this interdisciplinary performance degree requires development and study in theatre (29 hours), music (16 hours) and dance (10 hours). An audition meeting program standards is required for admission into the WTAMU Musical Theatre Program. Additionally, students approved as musical theatre majors must pass annual juries in musical theatre in order to maintain their status in the program. Required Courses
- Core curriculum requirements; (42 hours).
- Bachelor of arts requirements; (eight hours).
Twenty hours of advanced electives
Note:
All musical theatre majors are required to sign up for one credit hour of Theatre Practicum I (THRE 1120 ) for three semesters, one credit hour of Theatre Practicum II (THRE 3199 ) for three semesters, one credit hour of Musical Theatre I (THRE 1161 ) for two semesters and one credit hour of Musical Theatre II (THRE 3161 ) for three semesters. Musical theatre recitals require written permission of the musical theatre adviser. If approved, musical theatre recitals are not a part of the annual theatrical season and must, therefore, be the financial responsibility of the student.
