HIST 3366 - U.S.-Mexico Border Region

This course examines the evolution of the U.S.-Mexico Border region beginning with the development and/or creation of the international boundary. It also examines the economic, political, social, cultural, and global forces that shaped the development of the region after 1848 including international conflicts, political instability, migration, and the development of a distinct border culture. It also explores the impact of immigration, crime and violence, environmental degradation and international trade on binational relations and residents on both sides of the border as well as the policies implemented by the U.S. and Mexican governments to resolve common problems.
