Prerequisite(s): approval of instructor and program director. Use of tools to facilitate systems thinking and modeling. Multi-disciplinary approach of systems modeling for agriculture. Basic concepts in modeling. Properties of models. Types of models including deterministic, stochastic, process, physical, etc. Modeling parameters and limitations. Introduction to stocks (or reservoirs), flows, converters, connectors, ghosts, etc. Philosophy of model development and use.
