Major in Engineering Technology

The School of Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics offers the Master of Science degree in Engineering Technology. The degree program combines a variety of courses related to engineering technology and industrial management areas. The program prepares students for an exciting range of career opportunities - from production, quality assurance, industrial safety, research and development to supervisory and managerial positions in industry. Upon completion of the degree requirements, the student should be able to:

  • Acquire and utilize advanced knowledge and skills needed by technical, supervisory and management positions in industry.
  • Understand a systematic approach to plan, develop and manage integrated systems and projects.
  • Develop, conduct and document research, development and operational projects.
  • Participate in and function effectively as a member of interdisciplinary team.
  • Appreciate the need for continous improvement and learning to acquire new knowledge and skills in their professions.

  • Plan I (Thesis)
  • Plan II (Non-Thesis)

Non-Thesis Option (36 hours)


Thirty-six (36) semester hours of approved courses, which must include at least 24 semester hours in organized 6000-level courses in engineering technology. Students with undergraduate degrees in engineering technology may take up to 12 semester hours of graduate work outside of engineering technology upon approval of the adviser and the department head.
